Malicious code in checkout-desktop-pay-button (npm) 0 The npm package 'checkout-desktop-pay-button' version 35.5.4 contains malicious code that acts as a dropper. Upon requiring the package, it loads a script that fetches a platform-specific binary from obfuscated Cloudflare Workers subdomains and a DNS TXT record fallback. The binary is saved to temporary directories under disguised filenames, made executable, and executed detached from the main process. This behavior is unrelated to the package's stated functionality as a pay-button SDK and is designed to evade static inspection by reconstructing hostnames and domains from split string fragments.
