Malicious code in claims-get-error-string (npm) 0 The npm package 'claims-get-error-string' version 35.5.9 contains malicious code that downloads and executes a platform-specific binary from hardcoded Cloudflare Workers hosts. The binary is saved to temporary directories with innocuous names, given executable permissions, and executed detached from the main process. Additionally, a DNS-TXT covert channel is used as a fallback method to reassemble and deliver the payload from sequential TXT records under the domain wel1.ru. A secondary telemetry module with similar dropper logic is included but not invoked in this version. There is no hash pinning or signature verification for the downloaded payload, increasing the risk of malicious activity.
