Malicious code in claims-payout-offer-api (npm) 0 The npm package 'claims-payout-offer-api' version 35.7.6 contains malicious code that, upon requiring the package, loads a script which reconstructs command-and-control (C2) hostnames from fragmented strings to evade detection. It downloads platform-specific payloads from these C2 servers, saves them under disguised filenames, sets executable permissions, and executes them detached from the main process. This behavior is hidden within modules that appear unrelated to the advertised functionality of the package, which is a REST client wrapper.
