Malicious code in devplatform-auth-client (npm) 0 The devplatform-auth-client npm package version 35.2.1 contains malicious code that downloads and executes unauthorized payloads from hardcoded external URLs. It writes these payloads to temporary directories under decoy filenames, sets executable permissions, and spawns them detached via shell commands. The package uses obfuscation techniques to evade static detection, including runtime assembly of hostnames and API names. A related telemetry module also dynamically decodes and executes a base64-encoded payload. The downloaded payloads are unverified and unrelated to any legitimate publisher.
