Malicious code in dynstrg-howto (npm) 0 The npm package dynstrg-howto version 1.0.1 contains malicious code that executes automatically during installation. The package's preinstall script runs index.js, which collects sensitive system information including hostname, username, home directory, DNS server list, and contents of /etc/passwd and /etc/hosts. This data is then sent via HTTPS POST to an attacker-controlled external endpoint unrelated to the package's declared purpose.
