Malicious code in helixbox-connect (npm) 0 The helixbox-connect npm package version 1.0.1 contains malicious code that establishes a WebSocket connection to a hardcoded remote relay server. This connection allows the remote party to execute arbitrary commands on the host machine with the privileges of the user running the package. The package also permits unrestricted filesystem access, enabling reading and overwriting of any files, including sensitive credentials. Additionally, it can invoke local AI coding agents with commands from the remote party, further extending control. This results in full remote code execution and complete host compromise for anyone controlling the relay session.
