The bigops-api npm package version 35.8.8 contains malicious code that downloads and executes platform-specific binaries from obfuscated external hosts without signature verification. These binaries masquerade as legitimate Microsoft diagnostic tools and run detached processes on the infected system. A secondary bundled module performs similar actions under the guise of telemetry, using runtime string assembly to evade detection. Systems with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, and all secrets and keys must be rotated immediately. Removal of the package alone may not eliminate the compromise.
