Malicious code in @zzzcrypto/playwrite (npm) 0 The npm package @zzzcrypto/playwrite is a malicious typosquatting package impersonating the legitimate 'playwright' library. When imported, it collects extensive environment information including process environment variables, hostname, username, home directory, platform, current working directory, and package identity. This data is base64-encoded and sent via an HTTPS GET request to a hardcoded Telegram Bot API endpoint controlled by an attacker. The package attempts to masquerade as a drop-in replacement for 'playwright' but contains unrelated wallet functions and no legitimate functionality. This behavior risks leaking sensitive credentials such as CI tokens, cloud provider keys, and npm publish tokens to the attacker. Only version 1.48.0 is known to be affected. No patch or official remediation is currently documented. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 08/05/2026, 15:32:21 UTC Added: 08/05/2026, 18:46:59 UTC |
