Malicious code in bigops-legacy-telephony-panel (npm)
0

The npm package bigops-legacy-telephony-panel version 35.5.7 contains malicious code that, upon requiring the package, loads a script which fetches a platform-specific binary from obfuscated external hosts. This binary is saved to temporary locations on the host system, given executable permissions, and executed detached from the main process. The external hosts are unrelated to the package publisher and use obfuscation techniques to evade detection. An environment variable is presented as an opt-out mechanism, but the package ultimately enables arbitrary attacker-controlled code execution on any machine that installs or requires it.
