Malicious code in devplatform-spa-use-track (npm) 0 The npm package devplatform-spa-use-track version 35.5.3 contains malicious code that downloads and executes a platform-specific binary from attacker-controlled hosts. This behavior is hidden behind obfuscation techniques such as runtime string assembly and dynamic require calls. The package's intended function as a simple SPA tracking helper does not justify this behavior. The malicious binary is saved to temporary directories with disguised filenames, given executable permissions, and launched detached from the main process. An additional telemetry.js file in the package contains similar malicious dropper functionality. The executed payloads are opaque and unverified, posing a significant risk to users who install this package.
