Malicious code in base65-13x (npm) 0 The npm package base65-13x version 5.0.2 is a malicious impersonation of the legitimate cryptocoinjs/base-x package. It contains a heavily obfuscated ~123KB payload within its decode() function that dynamically constructs and executes code with network fetch capabilities. This behavior is not present in the genuine base-x package, which is simple and non-obfuscated. Installing or running this package can lead to full compromise of the host system, including potential unauthorized remote control and data exfiltration. Immediate removal and secret/key rotation from a separate trusted system are strongly advised. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 08/11/2026, 16:40:07 UTC Added: 08/12/2026, 00:41:50 UTC |
