Malicious code in @dreamguyxeon/baileyx (npm)
0

The npm package @dreamguyxeon/baileyx is a malicious fork of the Baileys WhatsApp Web API that silently hijacks users' authenticated WhatsApp sessions to follow newsletters controlled by the attacker. After establishing a WhatsApp socket connection, it waits 120 seconds, fetches a remote list of newsletter IDs from a mutable GitHub repository, and issues follow requests without user consent or notification. The package also replaces a critical cryptographic dependency with a malicious version under the attacker's control. This behavior is concealed by obfuscated code and is not disclosed in the package documentation.
