Malicious code in comander-cli (npm) 0 The comander-cli npm package is a malicious typosquat of the legitimate 'commander' package. It exports no functional code but runs a post-install script that downloads and executes a Windows executable payload. The script uses obfuscation techniques, including XOR decoding and split-array IP construction, to evade detection. It also attempts to escape Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) boundaries to infect the underlying Windows host. Additionally, the package sends an unencrypted beacon to a hardcoded IP address after installation. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 08/18/2026, 23:56:29 UTC Added: 08/19/2026, 13:51:07 UTC |
