Malicious code in comander-lib (npm)
0

The [email protected] package on npm is a typosquatting malicious package impersonating the legitimate 'commander' library. It contains no legitimate code but runs a post-install script that sends system platform information to a hardcoded command-and-control server and downloads and executes a hidden payload on Windows systems. It also includes mechanisms to escape Linux sandbox environments via WSL by invoking PowerShell commands on the Windows host. The malicious payload and command URLs are XOR-encoded to evade detection. This package acts as a pure dropper under the guise of a native-addon mirror but ships no native code.
