Malicious code in mutex-thread (npm) 0 The npm package 'mutex-thread' version 1.3.0 contains malicious code injected into its Mutex.js file. When a specific callback with meta.jobId 'cross-chain-transfer' is invoked, it launches an obfuscated dropper that fetches encrypted payloads from a Sepolia Ethereum smart contract, decrypts and executes them. The malware collects host system information and exfiltrates it to hardcoded Slack and Telegram bots. It also continuously polls Slack for encrypted commands to update or delete itself, using sophisticated obfuscation to hide its command and control infrastructure.
