Malicious code in price-scripping-js (npm) 0 The npm package price-scripping-js version 1.1.2 contains malicious code that exfiltrates environment variables from the installing project's .env file. During installation, it runs a postinstall script that reads sensitive data such as database credentials and API tokens from the .env file and sends this information to a concealed remote HTTP endpoint. The package disguises itself as a crypto-price fetcher but does not perform any legitimate functionality. The exfiltration is hidden by encoding the destination URL and silently swallowing errors to avoid detection during npm install.
