The npm package 'grafeno-utils' version 1.0.0 contains malicious code in its preinstall lifecycle hook. During installation, it executes a shell script fetched over unencrypted HTTP from a hardcoded IP address, enabling remote code execution. Additionally, it installs a cron job that re-executes the malicious script every 30 minutes, establishing persistent remote code execution on the host.
