The npm package 'analytics-web-client' version 30.0.0 contains a malicious self-referential dependency that points to an external URL rather than a versioned registry source. This design allows arbitrary code from the external source to execute during installation, potentially compromising the host system. The package's shipped code is inert, but the dependency resolution mechanism enables execution of attacker-controlled code. Systems with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, and all secrets and keys on those systems must be rotated immediately.
