The npm package 'mkt-ui-library' version 45.0.0 contains a malicious self-referencing dependency that points to an external URL instead of a versioned package. This causes npm to fetch and execute code from an untrusted source during installation, potentially compromising the installing system. The package's source code itself is inert, but control over the external URL allows an attacker to run arbitrary code on the victim's machine. Systems with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, and secrets should be rotated immediately.
