The npm package 'mfacord' versions 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 contains malicious code that downloads and executes a remote payload on Windows systems. It decodes a hardcoded URL to fetch a script which is saved in the user's AppData directory and executed via a VBScript launcher. The package disables TLS verification and does not verify the downloaded payload's integrity. It establishes multiple persistence mechanisms including registry run keys, scheduled tasks, and startup folder scripts, all obfuscated to evade detection. The package masquerades as a Discord MFA/TOTP helper but functions as a dropper and persistence tool for malicious code.
