The npm package quartz-core version 99.1.9 contains malicious code that executes during installation. Its preinstall script collects the installer's OS username, hostname, and current working directory, then sends this information via a DNS query to an attacker-controlled domain. This behavior is consistent with reconnaissance for dependency confusion attacks. The package has no legitimate functionality beyond this beacon.
