The npm package [email protected] is a malicious typosquatting package targeting Ethereum developers. It impersonates the Hardhat tooling ecosystem by using a similar name but includes a README and documentation copied from an unrelated popular package (pino). The package exports a no-op middleware but contains a large, heavily obfuscated payload that executes automatically upon import. This payload is designed to hide its true behavior and is suspected to be a supply-chain stealer aimed at compromising developers using the Hardhat ecosystem.
