Malicious code in @doaction/sudo-prompt (npm) 0 The @doaction/sudo-prompt npm package is a malicious package that impersonates the widely-used sudo-prompt package but lacks its intended privilege-escalation functionality. Instead, it performs environment telemetry by sending data to Datadog during installation without user consent. There is no evidence of credential theft, remote code execution, or attacker-controlled data exfiltration endpoints. However, the package name overlap can mislead developers into installing this telemetry shim unintentionally. Security advisories caution that any system with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, recommending immediate secret rotation and package removal.
