The npm package @shell-cabinet/routes version 99.9.5 contains malicious code that executes during installation. Its postinstall script exfiltrates sensitive system information including the contents of /etc/passwd and host identifiers by sending data to attacker-controlled domains. This behavior occurs unconditionally and is unrelated to any legitimate package functionality. Systems with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, and all secrets and keys stored on those systems must be rotated immediately.
