Malicious code in simplisafe-gatsby (npm) 0 The simplisafe-gatsby npm package version 1.0.1 contains malicious code that executes during installation. Its preinstall script collects sensitive system information including hostname, usernames, home directories, DNS settings, and contents of /etc/passwd and /etc/hosts, then exfiltrates this data to an attacker-controlled server. The package appears to be a dependency confusion attempt targeting SimpliSafe's internal Gatsby namespace and has no legitimate functionality. Systems that install this package are considered fully compromised, and secrets stored on them should be rotated immediately. Removal of the package does not guarantee full remediation due to potential further compromise. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 06/24/2026, 07:35:59 UTC Added: 09/08/2026, 04:37:36 UTC |
