The npm package signup-embedder versions 99.99.99-poc2, 99.99.99-poc3, and 99.99.99 contain malicious preinstall and postinstall scripts that automatically execute during installation. These scripts collect detailed host environment information and send it to an attacker-controlled server, enabling internal network mapping and potential follow-on attacks. The package is publicly available on the npm registry and masquerades as a proof-of-concept for dependency confusion. Systems that install this package risk full compromise, and secrets stored on affected machines should be rotated immediately.
