MAL-2026-6487: Malicious code in velocityfix (npm)
0

The velocityfix npm package masquerades as a legitimate performance fix for the Minecraft Velocity proxy but is a malicious supply-chain dropper targeting Windows systems. It executes a bundled native Windows payload during installation that exfiltrates system information and collected files to a hardcoded command-and-control server. The payload includes sandbox and virtual machine evasion techniques to avoid detection and only activates on real victim hosts. This threat affects specific versions of velocityfix and involves brand impersonation and automatic execution of a native binary during npm install.
