MAL-2026-6531: Malicious code in @appupdate/cdn-sync (npm) 0 The npm package @appupdate/cdn-sync version 1.0.2 is a malicious package masquerading as a CDN static-asset background sync worker. It contains large native libraries with embedded implant capabilities such as reverse shell, SOCKS proxy, persistence, and privilege escalation functions. The package communicates with hardcoded Tencent COS cloud storage endpoints, with authentication and endpoints encapsulated inside the native binaries, preventing inspection or configuration by users. The activation of the implant occurs via the documented start API, which uses a licenseKey parameter as an implant activation token rather than a legitimate license check. The package metadata is deceptive, using placeholder repository URLs and generic descriptions to conceal its malicious intent.
