MAL-2026-6591: Malicious code in ledgerflow-deploy-utils (npm)
0

The ledgerflow-deploy-utils npm package version 1.0.1 contains malicious code that executes during installation. Its postinstall script queries the AWS instance metadata service (IMDSv1) to retrieve attached IAM role information and sends this data over unencrypted HTTP to a hardcoded external IP address. The package exports only no-op functions, indicating its primary purpose is reconnaissance on AWS-hosted build environments. This behavior aligns with dependency confusion or internal name squatting attacks targeting corporate build systems to enable credential theft and subsequent abuse.
