The npm package 'npm-rce-poc' version 1.0.13 contains malicious code that executes during installation. It runs a postinstall script that fetches and executes a remote script over unencrypted HTTP from a hardcoded IP address, enabling remote code execution on the installing system. The package masquerades as 'date-fns-lite' to appear benign. Systems with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, and all secrets and keys should be rotated. Removal of the package does not guarantee full remediation due to potential persistent compromise. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 07/08/2026, 19:29:46 UTC Added: 07/16/2026, 10:40:22 UTC |
