A new malware loader named CountLoader has been identified, strongly associated with Russian ransomware gangs. It comes in three versions: .NET, PowerShell, and JScript. The threat is believed to be part of an Initial Access Broker's toolset or used by a ransomware affiliate linked to LockBit, BlackBasta, and Qilin groups. CountLoader was recently employed in a phishing campaign targeting Ukrainian citizens, impersonating the Ukrainian police. The loader attempts to connect to multiple C2 servers, downloads and executes various malware payloads, and uses advanced techniques to evade detection. It has been observed dropping CobaltStrike and AdaptixC2, among other malicious tools. The malware's functionality includes system information gathering, persistence mechanisms, and multiple download methods.

SmokeLoader, a modular malware loader active since 2011, has resurfaced with new versions in 2025 after Operation Endgame suppressed its activity. The latest variants, 2025 alpha and 2025, include bug fixes and improvements to evade detection. Key changes include a new mutex check in the stager, modified mutex name generation, and updates to the main module. The network protocol has been slightly adjusted in version 2025, and the scheduled task name for persistence has been updated. These versions fix performance issues and include additional anti-analysis measures. Despite efforts to dismantle it, SmokeLoader continues to evolve and is used by multiple threat groups.

CastleLoader, a versatile malware loader, has infected 469 devices since May 2025 using Cloudflare-themed ClickFix phishing and fake GitHub repositories. It delivers information stealers and RATs, with a 28.7% infection rate. The malware employs sophisticated techniques, including PowerShell and AutoIT scripts, to load shellcode into memory and connect to C2 servers. CastleLoader's modular design allows deployment of multiple payloads, including StealC, RedLine, NetSupport RAT, DeerStealer, HijackLoader, and SectopRAT. Its campaigns target U.S.government entities and use legitimate file-sharing services and compromised websites for payload retrieval, enhancing resilience against takedowns.
