Users should upgrade to Apache MINA SSHD version 2.20.0 or 3.0.0-M6 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed. These versions also prevent the use of asynchronous authentication with public-key or hostbased schemes by closing the session and logging the event. No other mitigations are indicated.
Description
Apache MINA SSHD versions 2.0.0 to 2.19.0 and 3.0.0-M1 to 3.0.0-M5 contain an authentication bypass vulnerability in the sshd-core component. This flaw affects the asynchronous authentication mechanism when used with public-key or hostbased authentication, potentially allowing signature checks to be skipped or incorrect results returned. The issue is fixed in versions 2.20.0 and 3.0.0-M6, which also restrict asynchronous authentication to password or keyboard-interactive methods only.
