Technical Analysis

CVE-2024-8516 is an information exposure vulnerability in the Themesflat Addons For Elementor WordPress plugin affecting all versions up to 2.2.1. The vulnerability arises from the render() function, which allows authenticated users with Contributor-level permissions or higher to access limited information from draft and future scheduled posts that they normally should not see. This exposure is limited to read-only access to certain post data and does not affect integrity or availability. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 4.3, reflecting a network attack vector with low complexity and requiring low privileges but no user interaction.

Potential Impact

An attacker with Contributor-level or higher access can extract limited sensitive information from draft and scheduled posts. This could lead to unauthorized disclosure of unpublished content. There is no impact on data integrity or availability. The vulnerability does not allow privilege escalation beyond the existing Contributor-level permissions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict Contributor-level access to trusted users only. Monitor for updates from the Themesflat vendor regarding an official patch or mitigation steps.
