Technical Analysis

The Total Upkeep WordPress plugin by BoldGrid suffers from an OS Command Injection vulnerability (CWE-78) in the cron_interval parameter. This flaw arises from missing input validation and sanitization, enabling authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary commands on the server remotely. The vulnerability affects all versions up to 1.16.6. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.2, reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, high privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

An authenticated attacker with Administrator-level access can execute arbitrary OS commands on the server hosting the WordPress plugin. This can lead to full compromise of the server, including data theft, data loss, and service disruption. The vulnerability impacts confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict Administrator-level access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to the plugin.
