What to do

AI-suggested

Until a fix is applied, avoid running vulnerable ksmbd components on 32-bit systems or restrict access to trusted users with local privileges.

Description

CVE-2025-21748 addresses an integer overflow vulnerability in the ksmbd component of the Linux kernel on 32-bit systems. The flaw occurs due to unchecked addition operations in the ipc_msg_alloc() function, which can overflow and lead to memory corruption. The issue is mitigated by adding bounds checking using KSMBD_IPC_MAX_PAYLOAD to prevent overflow.
