AI-suggested

A patch has been developed and merged into the Linux kernel to fix the ACPI operand cache leak. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version containing the referenced commits (e0783910ca4368b01466bc8dcdcc13c3e0b7db53 and others). No additional mitigation steps are indicated or required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

CVE-2025-38345 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ACPICA component where an ACPI operand cache leak occurs in dswstate.c. This leak happens during early termination of ACPI functions caused by malicious ACPI tables, leading to memory not being properly freed. The leak can expose kernel memory locations in stack dumps on older kernels (<= 4.9), potentially aiding attackers in bypassing kernel ASLR protections. A patch has been developed to fix this issue.
