AI-suggested

A patch is available and included in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1092.99~20.04.1 and later. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions or newer to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel updates provided by the vendor.

Description

A time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's vsock transport assignment was fixed. The flaw could cause a stale pointer to be used if a transport module is unloaded concurrently, potentially leading to kernel crashes or memory corruption. The issue was addressed by protecting the transport pointer and adding locking assertions. Multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 5.15.0-1092.99~20.04.1 and related builds are affected. A high-severity fix is available and included in various patched kernel releases.
