Users of SAIL Image Decoding Library v0.9.8 should avoid processing untrusted or unauthenticated .webp animation files to mitigate risk. Monitor vendor advisories for updates or patches addressing this issue.

Description

CVE-2025-52456 is a high-severity memory corruption vulnerability in the SAIL Image Decoding Library version 0.9.8. It occurs in the WebP image decoding functionality when processing specially crafted .webp animation files. An integer overflow during stride calculation leads to a heap-based buffer overflow, potentially allowing remote code execution if an attacker convinces the library to read a malicious file.
