Description

CVE-2026-105810 is a high-severity stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in TP-Link Tapo C320WS version 2.0. It occurs in the local onboarding Wi-Fi configuration process when an authenticated attacker on an adjacent network submits a crafted request with an oversized encrypted password field. This allows overwriting of stack memory and execution of commands with root privileges. Exploitation can lead to full control of the camera, modification of its behavior, access to sensitive configuration data, and disruption of device availability.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2026-105810 affects TP-Link Tapo C320WS v2.0 and is a stack-based buffer overflow (CWE-121) triggered during the local onboarding Wi-Fi configuration. An authenticated attacker on an adjacent network can send a specially crafted request containing an oversized encrypted password field, causing a stack overflow that overwrites memory and enables command execution with root privileges. This flaw allows the attacker to take control of the device, alter its behavior, access sensitive local configuration, and disrupt its availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation grants an authenticated attacker on an adjacent network root-level control over the affected camera. This includes the ability to modify device behavior, access sensitive local configuration data, and disrupt the device's availability, potentially compromising the security and functionality of the camera.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the local onboarding Wi-Fi configuration interface to trusted users and networks only.
