Vendor/Project: TP-Link Systems Inc.
Product: RE210 AC750

Description

CVE-2026-85384 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the httpd component of the TP-Link RE210 AC750 device. It arises from improper bounds checking in the splitString function when processing an uploaded configuration file. An authenticated attacker on the local network can exploit this by uploading a crafted configuration file to trigger the overflow and potentially achieve remote code execution. Successful exploitation may lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information, modification of device configuration and network behavior, or disruption of device availability.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-85384) affects the TP-Link RE210 AC750 device's httpd component. The flaw is a stack-based buffer overflow caused by inadequate bounds checking in the splitString function during the processing of uploaded configuration files. An attacker with authentication and local network access can upload a malicious configuration file to trigger the overflow, potentially resulting in remote code execution. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-121 (Stack-based Buffer Overflow) and has a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.5, indicating high severity. No patch or official remediation guidance is currently available, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an authenticated local attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely on the affected device. This may lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information, unauthorized modification of device configurations and network behavior, or denial of service by disrupting device availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict local network access to trusted users and monitor for suspicious activity related to configuration file uploads. Avoid uploading configuration files from untrusted sources.
