Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-10824 is an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284) in the Masteriyo LMS WordPress plugin prior to version 2.2.1. The vulnerability exists because the plugin does not perform authorization checks in its course-progress REST API controller, enabling unauthenticated attackers to access and delete course-progress data of any user.

Potential Impact

An attacker can read sensitive course-progress information of any user and permanently delete these records without authentication. This compromises user data confidentiality and integrity within the affected LMS environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since the vulnerability affects versions before 2.2.1, upgrading to version 2.2.1 or later is recommended once the vendor confirms the fix. Until then, restrict access to the REST API endpoints if possible.
