Published: 10/12/2026 (10/12/2026, 15:32:18 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: sgl-project
Product: sglang

Description

SGLang versions up to 0.5.21 have an unbounded memory allocation vulnerability that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to exhaust server memory by uploading oversized files to the /v1/audio/transcriptions endpoint. This can cause denial of service by crashing the HTTP/tokenizer worker due to concurrent large multipart uploads being fully read into memory before validation.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109225 describes a vulnerability in SGLang through version 0.5.21 where unauthenticated remote attackers can cause unbounded memory allocation by uploading large files to the /v1/audio/transcriptions endpoint. The server reads the entire multipart upload into memory before validating it, enabling attackers to exhaust memory resources and crash the HTTP/tokenizer worker, resulting in denial of service.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to cause a denial of service by exhausting server memory through large concurrent uploads. This disrupts normal service operation by crashing critical server components handling HTTP requests and tokenization.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider implementing upload size limits or rate limiting at the network or application layer to mitigate memory exhaustion risks.
