Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: apostrophecms
Product: apostrophe

Description

ApostropheCMS versions prior to 4.34.0 have a missing authorization vulnerability in the getOne REST endpoint for pages. This endpoint does not enforce viewRole type-level restrictions or viewPermission field-level redaction, allowing editor-level users to access full content of admin-only pages if they know the document _id. The getAll endpoint correctly enforces these restrictions. The issue is fixed in version 4.34.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-112957 describes a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in ApostropheCMS, an open-source Node.js content management system. Specifically, versions before 4.34.0 have a flaw in the getOne REST endpoint for pages, which fails to apply viewRole and viewPermission restrictions. This allows users with editor-level privileges to read the full content of admin-only pages and privileged fields if they know the document identifier. The getAll endpoint does not have this issue as it correctly enforces these restrictions. The vulnerability is resolved in ApostropheCMS version 4.34.0.

Potential Impact

An editor-level user can bypass intended access controls on the getOne endpoint to view full content of admin-only pages and privileged fields, potentially exposing sensitive information. The vulnerability does not affect the getAll endpoint, which enforces restrictions properly. There is no indication of impact on integrity or availability. The CVSS score is 4.3 (medium severity), reflecting limited confidentiality impact with no integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade ApostropheCMS to version 4.34.0 or later, where this missing authorization vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated or necessary as the issue is resolved in the official fix.
