Users should upgrade to a version later than 1.4.3 if available or apply custom access controls to restrict the vulnerable AJAX action. Monitor the vendor advisory for official remediation guidance.
Description
The placester WordPress plugin versions up to 1.4.3 contain an improper privilege management vulnerability. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to update any user's email address via an AJAX action without capability, nonce, or ownership checks. Exploiting this, attackers can take over user accounts, including administrators, by leveraging the password-reset process.
