Since the vulnerability affects versions up to 1.1.8, users should upgrade to a fixed version once available. Until then, restrict access to password reset functionality or disable the WHIZZ plugin if possible. Monitor the vendor advisory for official fixes.
Description
The WHIZZ WordPress plugin versions up to 1.1.8 contain a vulnerability where the password-reset key is not properly validated before updating a user's password. Instead, the plugin relies solely on a nonce that is accessible to unauthenticated visitors. This flaw allows attackers to set arbitrary passwords for any user, including administrators, enabling full account takeover.
