Upgrade GeoDirectory to version 2.8.194 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Since the vulnerability is patched in 2.8.194, applying this official fix fully mitigates the risk. No other vendor advisories or temporary mitigations are provided.
Description
The GeoDirectory WordPress plugin before 2.8.194 does not properly escape administrator-defined text before writing it into a generated PHP file in its own folder, allowing high privilege users such as a subsite administrator on a multisite network, who cannot otherwise run code, to achieve Remote Code Execution that any unauthenticated visitor can trigger.
Impact
Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary PHP code on the server via crafted input from a high privilege user, leading to full compromise of the affected WordPress site. The vulnerability escalates privileges by enabling subsite administrators, who normally cannot run code, to inject executable code. This can be triggered remotely by unauthenticated visitors, increasing the attack surface and risk.
