CVE-2026-19726: CWE-863 Incorrect Authorization in Visualizer

0
Medium
Published: 08/16/2026 (08/16/2026, 06:00:16 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: Visualizer

Description

The Visualizer WordPress plugin before 4.0.7 does not properly authorise access to the configuration of its charts, allowing users with the Contributor role and above to read the full configuration of any chart on the site, including charts the Visualizer WordPress plugin before 4.0.7's own interface denies them, and to retrieve every chart's configuration in a single request. The disclosed configuration can include the credentials of a remote data source a chart reads from.

Technical Analysis

The Visualizer WordPress plugin versions prior to 4.0.7 do not properly enforce authorization checks on chart configuration access. Users with the Contributor role or higher can read the complete configuration of any chart, bypassing interface restrictions. Additionally, they can retrieve configurations for all charts in a single request. The exposed configuration data may include sensitive credentials for remote data sources that the charts connect to.

Potential Impact

Unauthorized users with Contributor role or higher can access sensitive configuration data for all charts, potentially exposing credentials for remote data sources. This could lead to further data exposure or unauthorized access to external systems. The vulnerability does not allow modification or disruption of the charts, only information disclosure.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict Contributor role assignments and limit access to trusted users only. Monitor for updates from the Visualizer plugin vendor regarding patches or official fixes.
