Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: silverstripe
Product: silverstripe-cms

Description

Silverstripe CMS versions prior to 6.2.1 have a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the page breadcrumbs feature within the CMS page list view. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-54717 describes a cross-site scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability in Silverstripe CMS where page breadcrumbs in the CMS page list view do not properly escape page titles before rendering. This improper neutralization of input during web page generation allows an attacker to inject and execute arbitrary scripts. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 6.2.1 and is resolved in 6.2.1.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious scripts into page titles, which are then executed in the context of the CMS user viewing the page list. This can lead to limited confidentiality and integrity impacts such as theft of session tokens or manipulation of the user interface. The CVSS score is 5.4 (medium severity), indicating a moderate risk with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, and limited impact on confidentiality and integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Silverstripe CMS to version 6.2.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory stating the issue is fixed in 6.2.1.
