Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-77770 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the miniOrange 2FA WordPress plugin prior to versions 6.3.1 and 19.3. The plugin fails to validate transactions before deleting site options whose names are derived from unauthenticated request input. This allows any visitor to delete arbitrary options, potentially locking administrators out of the dashboard or deactivating the plugin.

Potential Impact

An attacker can delete arbitrary site options without authentication, which may lock all administrators out of the WordPress dashboard or disable the miniOrange 2FA plugin. This could prevent administrators from managing the site or maintaining two-factor authentication, weakening site security and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the affected plugin or disable it if possible to prevent exploitation.
