Users should exercise caution when opening ICO files from untrusted sources or visiting untrusted websites. Monitor vendor advisories for updates and apply patches once released. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on vendor patch availability.
Description
A high-severity integer overflow vulnerability exists in GIMP's ICO file parsing functionality. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by convincing a user to open a crafted malicious ICO file or visit a malicious page. The vulnerability arises from improper validation of user-supplied data leading to an integer overflow during memory operations.
